Crown
Lengthening or Clinical Crown Exposure |
| |
| When there is a cavity or tooth
fracture below the gum line. |
| |
| There is a procedure to expose more
of the tooth structure to facilitate the restoration. As well
as keeping one's gum and periodontal tissues healthy. |
| |
| 1. Gum is reflected to expose the
carious lesion or the fractured tooth. |
| |
| 2. Adequate tooth structure is exposed
for forming a healthy periodontal tissue. |
| |
| 3. Generally the procedure has minimal
short term discomfort, and the area will heal with in five to
ten days. However the final maturation of the periodontal tissue
will take 6 to 8 weeks. A temporary restoration can be placed
shortly after the procedure, but the final restoration will
be six to 8 weeks after the Clinical Crown Exposure. |
| |
| Clinical crown exposure will provide
access for a better fitting restoration, as well as a healthier
periodontal tissue. |
